Happy Birthday, Blog!

1 01 2009

Surprisingly enough, I’ve been blogging almost an entire year. I still feel like a baby blogger, but I guess I can’t really use that as an excuse for messed up captions anymore.

To honor this auspicious occasion, I’ve decided to have my first-ever blog contest. Wait—that should have an exclamation point, like this:  !

I had a great time making homemade gifts for Christmas this year, so I thought I’d have the prize be something homemade. For my brother and his wife, I quilted a large floor pillow which earned the nickname TSUPE (although that may be a misnomer. TSUPE stands for The Second Ugliest Pillow Ever, but when I called on Christmas morning my other brother [not the one I gave it to] said, “That is the ugliest pillow I’ve ever seen, Wendy.”) I took a photograph so you could all share in the joy of this effort—which was sewn with love, if not palatable fabrics. However, I can’t seem to find it anywhere on my laptop, and the memory card has since been wiped several times.

Rest assured I’m not giving away a TSUPE Jr. I’m still working to remedy TSUPE Sr. somehow. What I AM going to give away is something I made for my sister-in-law that turned out wonderfully—but I didn’t get a picture of it, either. You’ll just have to trust me that it was cute, fun, and functional.

The item in question? An apron.

I mean, an apron!

Are you excited yet? (Even if you don’t cook, you can wear it to pretend you do.)

Leave a comment and I’ll draw a winner on my blog’s birthday, January 6th.

And, hey—thanks for reading.

Days of Gratitude: Thirty-one

It’s been a good year. A tough year, in some ways, but I’ve learned a lot. And I am so, so blessed. Happy New Year, everybody.

Science Projects

I complain sometimes about Zack’s “experiments”, which usually involve things being put into water bottles and allowed to rot. Yesterday, though, we had a great time experimenting with bubble solution.

I’m grateful that during our Wii-saturated holiday, we were able to have some regular fun.

Even our gamer-girl paused. (For a little while.)

Just in case you were wondering, dish soap makes the best bubbles, with bubble bath coming in a fairly close second.
